Team Member Spotlight: Marissa Burkhardt
Meet Marissa, Chief Strategy Officer!
Being the Chief Strategy Officer at Fountain Digital, I’m responsible for leading agency-wide strategy and company operations. When I’m not at work, I love to travel with my husband Dylan, spend time with family and friends, be near the water, practice yoga, and organize just for fun!
- Q: Can you share a bit about your background and how it led you to where you are today?
My career has taken me all over the digital marketing landscape. I got started in account management, content writing and SEO while working for a Publicis Groupe agency, which piqued my initial interest in digital, especially on the technical side. From there, I was hungry to learn everything about digital marketing and quickly expanded into different areas – from learning marketing automation from scratch to managing website redesign projects to building out digital solutions teams. As you can tell, I’ve never been able to pick just one focus area! All of these unique experiences have made me a better strategist and leader, driving me to think holistically about the different pieces of strategy and deeply understand how they work together. - Q: What do you enjoy most about being a part of the Fountain Digital team? The people. I’m fortunate to work with so many smart, kind, fun, collaborative and growth-minded team members. Everyone is willing to jump in and help out, and we laugh a lot! I’d be remiss if I didn’t also share that I love the incredible work we get to do and the business results we drive for our amazing clients.
- Q: What is your favorite part of digital marketing?
This is probably not a common answer, but I really enjoy how there are so many complex little technical pieces you need to account for to really do it right and drive results. Quite a bit goes into a well-oiled digital marketing strategy. It’s fun being able to help tie it all together with the team and see it in action. - Q: If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would you choose and why?
Madrid, Spain. It’s one of my favorite cities and is super livable (I studied abroad there during college). Plus, it’s an easy train or plane away from other European cities like Barcelona and Paris, and I’d get to use my Spanish again. - Q: What’s one thing on your bucket list that you haven’t done yet? I’d love to complete my 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training. When I completed my 200-hour training a few years ago, it was a transformative experience and really contributed to my ability to be more present and mindful outside the yoga studio. I can only imagine how I’d feel after 500 hours – probably amazing!
